Evaluation Question 4

Evaluation 4
To edit our trailer, we originally used Serif Movie Plus X9, on a Windows computer. It was working fine until we uploaded our first draft of the trailer, and then problems started to occur. The software started to take a while to upload, causing us to fall behind in the editing process. We eventually came to a group decision to use the Apple Macs at school. My lack of ecxperience using Final Cut Pro X on the Apple Macs, meant that we needed to work together to edit the trailer, rather than give out individual roles. I believe I am quite competent when it comes to operating them. Because of this, I don’t think I learnt and developed many new throughout my A2 project, although I did teach myself how to download and install new fonts from DaFont.com so that they would show up in Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro X which meant I could find the perfect font to suit my products.
We used Final Cut when taking the recorded footage and editing it so that it would fit within the specific time and match the music. If I was to compare my skills set this year, to last year, I would say that it was expanded, due to the different aspects found in my video. I had colour changes, music, correction, subtitles, film titles and two toning- all of which I didn’t know how to use until this year.

Hostage Poster - Final

This is the first draft of my film poster. To begin with, I used the program Adobe Spark to make this poster. I used the default fonts for all of the text but varied the type of font so it wouldn't look bland. The overall theme I initially intended for this poster was to be dark and thought-provoking. To create this effect on the audience I used dark, matte red and pasty white as the colour scheme, as these are the main colours that I am using for the magazine cover, and the trailer uses the same colour scheme for the credits. It is important for me to keep using these colours and font as a stylistic choice throughout the films promotional media because all films have a 'House Style' that reflects the film's genre and gives the film's media a familiar look throughout, this is a good way of getting the audience to subconsciously remember the style of the film when viewing its promotional media.
